A New Season A New Look For The Houston Rockets

Rockets unveil 2023-24 roster

A new season, a new look for the Houston Rockets

After a disappointing season this past year, the Rockets are looking to bounce back in a big way in 2023-24. They have made a number of changes to their roster, including adding several new players and trading away some of their veterans.

Key additions

The Rockets' most notable addition this offseason is Tari Eason, who was selected with the 17th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Eason is a 6-foot-8 forward who has a great combination of size, athleticism, and skill. He can score, rebound, and defend, and he should be a valuable addition to the Rockets' young core.

Other key additions to the Rockets' roster this offseason include:

  • TyTy Washington, PG
  • Josh Christopher, SG
  • Kenyon Martin Jr., PF
  • Jabari Smith Jr., PF
  • Alperen Sengun, C

Key departures

The Rockets also made a number of key departures this offseason, including trading away Christian Wood and Eric Gordon. Wood was the Rockets' leading scorer last season, but he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for a package of players and picks.

Gordon was the Rockets' longest-tenured player, but he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a second-round pick. The Rockets also waived veteran center DeMarcus Cousins, who signed with the Denver Nuggets.

Outlook for 2023-24

The Rockets are still in a rebuilding mode, but they have a number of young players with a lot of potential. Eason, Washington, Christopher, Martin Jr., Smith Jr., and Sengun are all 23 years old or younger, and they all have the potential to be impact players in the NBA.

The Rockets will be counting on their young players to take a step forward this season, and if they can do that, they could be a surprise team in the Western Conference. However, they will need to improve their defense, which was one of the worst in the NBA last season.

Overall, the Rockets are a team with a lot of promise, but they also have a lot of work to do. It will be interesting to see how they perform in 2023-24.
