March 27, 2023

After the debacle over the controversial Windows 11 system requirements, Microsoft has been tight-lipped about the hardware specifications for its upcoming Windows 12 operating system. However, recent leaks and rumors suggest that the company may be planning to raise the bar again in terms of hardware requirements.

According to a report by Windows Central, Microsoft is considering increasing the minimum memory requirement for Windows 12 from 4GB to 8GB. This would bring Windows 12 in line with the hardware requirements for macOS Ventura, which also requires a minimum of 8GB of RAM.

Other system requirements for Windows 12 are likely to remain the same as for Windows 11, including the requirement for a 64-bit processor and a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip. However, Microsoft may also introduce new hardware requirements for specific features, such as DirectStorage, which requires an NVMe solid-state drive (SSD).

The hardware requirements for Windows 12 are still subject to change, and Microsoft has not yet officially announced any specific specifications. However, the leaked information provides us with a good idea of what to expect when the new operating system is released.
